Who We Are

After over a decade of working for Disney, Universal and House of Blues, as well as touring with various artists, Shawn Seithel turned his passion and love for the entertainment industry into a lighting design company, Light and Shadow, LLC.

Since 2007, Light and Shadow LLC has created extraordinary moments — conventions, concerts and events that are impactful and inspire audiences, through innovation and artistry.

Light and Shadow LLC has also been recognized internationally with projects that include shows in the Caribbean and permanent installations in Asia.

Shawn Seithel

Principal
Lighting Designer & Project Manager

Shawn thrives on challenging, out-of-the-box projects, as Lighting Designer and Project Manager for Light & Shadow LLC. He has the distinct honor of lighting two national memorials, Mount Rushmore and the Lincoln Memorial. His creative excellence and hands on approach can be seen in the lighting design and management of events such as the World Meeting of Families in 2015 and March for Our Lives in Washington, DC. His work with artists such as Pixies, Train, and Dashboard Confessional showcase his artistry and attention to detail.

Shawn’s travels as a sought-after Lighting Designer has allowed him to enjoy whiskey from all over the world. He has an extensive whiskey collection, counting Hibiki 12 and Pappy Van Winkle 12-year Special Reserve as favorites. His love for aviation, particularly the SR-71 Blackbird, inspires him to learn how to fly planes someday.

Anya Seithel

Business Operations Manager

Overseeing the day to day operations of Light and Shadow, Anya ensures that all projects are managed efficiently and effectively. Educated at prestigious Les Roches, in Switzerland, with world-wide work experience in human resource management, client relations and business management, Anya is instrumental in driving the business operational success of Light and Shadow events.

In her free time, Anya loves to find unique must-do experiences, the best secret food spots and see her favorite acts in concert.

When they're not working on shows, Shawn and Anya love to travel with their sons, Justin and Dominic. Justin was an honors student and award-winning lighting tech for his high school thespian troupe. He is attending UNCSA's BFA Lighting Design program. Dominic is an honors student and Spelling Bee champ who loves music, video games and playing with the GrandMA.

Light and Shadow Chooses Ayrton GHIBLIs for Broadcast Convention

MINNEAPOLIS — When CMI supported the stage production for a multifaceted event at the Minneapolis Convention Center in August utilizing a large complement of Ayrton GHIBLI LED spot luminaires, illuminating the sessions that are broadcast internationally, and for the over 1800 attendees of the event. The fixtures matched exactly in output and color temperature even though they were supplied by three different vendors.

Train Spotting

The tour for Train has been rolling across America with lighting and video gear provided by LMG. Lighting designer Matt Mills and tour manager Thomas O'Keefe co-designed the rig, then handed it o! to lighting director Shawn Seithel. Video has played a key role in the production. Along with three DL.3s from Barco/High End Systems and video gear used for I-Mag, LMG account rep Craig Mitchell noted that custom video racks were built to help the band and that the band could constantly update the video content while out on the road.

Miss Teen USA 2009: Beauty in the Bahamas

As the lights go up on stage in the Atlantis Resort’s expansive, Imperial Ballroom, 51 teenage girls dressed in matching cobalt blue dresses are waiting nervously in the wings. Only one of them is going to get exactly what she wants tonight; the title of Miss Teen USA 2009. The crew, in contrast, is feeling fine. The stage looks great, the girls look great, and after the show is done, there’s load-out, and then, well, then there’s the Bahamas and the lazy river ride. But more on that later.
